The smile building within, from the moment the girl had asked for more money, faded as Jed continued his search. Without the distraction of a tail, he had time to think. In his mind he ran through all of the possible ways that Rice's partner could have known he was in Panama. There was no reasonable answer.

What suddenly became more important was the possability that Jenny was in danger. Jed began to run for the main boulevard and a taxi. Cutting a corner at a fast clip he accidentally knocked down a man, also in a hurry, headed in the opposite direction.

"Stone the freekin crows," Jed heard a familiar voice behind him tell the whole world what he thought of Panama.
